Manoj Yadav, IPS officer, appointed as Haryana’s DGP

Manoj Yadav, a 1988-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana on Monday. Yadav, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, returned to Haryana after nearly 16 years. He is known for his humble and straight-forward behaviour.

Yadav was working as a joint director of the Intelligence Bureau at the Union Home Ministry (MHA). He moved to Delhi in this department on deputation in 2003. With the completion of the tenure of the current DGP BS Sandhu on January 31, the post had been lying vacant since then, but due to a dispute over the name of the DGP, the state government had entrusted the duty of caretaker DGP to KP Singh till the new appointment.

Yadav will retire on July 31, 2025. His son was elected to the post of IAS in 2018 from Assam cadre. According to sources, Yadav got close to senior RSS leaders during his stay in Haryana in his previous term. After working as the SP traffic and SP Security in Chandigarh, he has worked as SP in many districts of Haryana.
