Union Home Minister Amit Shah will on Wednesday hold three rallies in Kaithal, Loharu, Barwala and Meham areas of Maharashtra. The Election Commission of India announced that Maharashtra and Haryana will go to polls on October 21 and counting will take place on October 24. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to appear before a magisterial court here on Thursday to defend himself in a criminal defamation case filed against him for saying "why all thieves share the Modi surname" during the Lok Sabha poll campaign this year. Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda on Tuesday held a meeting with local party leaders in view of Gandhi's upcoming visit.

No date fixed for inauguration of Kartarpur corridor: Pak

Pakistan on Thursday said no date has been fixed so far for the inauguration of the much-awaited Kartarpur corridor, even as it assured that it will be open "on time" on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Sikh faith founder Guru Nanak Dev next month. 


The statement came nearly a month after a senior official heading the corridor project announced that Pakistan will allow Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit the holy Kartarpur Sahib from November 9.
