With the assembly elections campaigning in Maharashtra at its peak, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi are all set to address rallies in the state on Sunday. PM Modi will address rallies in Jalgaon and Sakoli (in Bhandara district), while Rahul Gandhi will be addressing rallies in Ausa in Latur district and Chandivli and Dharavi in Mumbai.

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will be releasing its manifesto for the Haryana assembly elections, in presence of state Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other senior leaders of the party.

‘Not Shaken’, Says KCR As Telangana Bus Drivers Continue To Protest

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has ruled out softening his stand over sacking of employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The Chief Minister has ordered Director-General of Police Mahender Reddy to arrest anybody who tries to disrupt bus services. "We are not shaken or afraid. We won't tolerate any attempt to stop buses or organise protests at bus depots," KCR said. Employees and workers unions of TSRTC have been on an indefinite strike from October 5 across Telangana, demanding merger of the RTC with the government and recruitment to various posts, among others.

Earthquake Hits Rajasthan's Bikaner, Tremors Felt In Several Villages

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake rocked Rajasthan’s Bikaner at 10:36 am on Sunday, the meteorological department said. No casualty or damage to property has been reported because of the quake, with latitude 28.0 degree north and longitude 73.4 degree east.

Gurugram To Implement Odd-Even Scheme Only On ‘Emergency’ Air Quality Days

As Delhi braces for the third odd-even scheme, authorities have confirmed that the rationing scheme could be implemented in Gurugram only when the air quality in the city deteriorates only to the ‘severe plus’ or ‘emergency’ category. In a letter Deputy commissioner Amit Khatri directed officials to implement the odd-even scheme: “When the PM2.5 levels cross 300 ug/m3 or PM10 levels cross 500 ug/m3 (five times above the standard) and persist for 48 hours or more”.

India has been relatively hit hard by the recent global slowdown resulting in its projected growth dropping to 6.0 per cent in 2019, but it's still a fast-growing economy with a lot of potential, a top World Bank economist said on Sunday.


"It's still a fast-growing economy. So even with the recent slowdown, it has growth numbers that are higher than in most countries of the world. It's still a fast-growing economy with a lot of potential," World Bank's Chief Economist for South Asia Hans Timmer told PTI.
