Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum (GBF) in New York, during his visit to the US to attend the UN General Assembly meetings. Former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar on Tuesday moved the Calcutta High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund case and claimed that the CBI was "hounding" him. Kumar, who is currently additional director general in the West Bengal CID, said his leave will end on Wednesday and his plea for pre-arrest bail be taken up for hearing urgently. The division bench then fixed Kumar's anticipatory bail plea, which was filed on Monday, for hearing on Wednesday.

Reserve Bank of India: Reports appearing in some sections of social media about RBI closing down certain commercial banks are false. "There are mischievous rumours on social media about RBI closing some banks. No question of closing any public sector bank, which are articles of faith. Rather govt is strengthening PSBs with reforms&infusion of capital to better serve its customers," Finance Secretary Rajeev Kumar said.

Azam Khan Gets Relief From Arrest As High Court Stays 29 FIRs Against SP Leader

In relief for Rampur MP Azam Khan, Allahabad High Court on Wednesday put a stay on 29 FIRs registered against the Samajwadi Party leader. This means Khan won’t be arrested for now. However, the bench headed by Justice Manoj Mishra and Justice Manju Rani refused to quash the cases pending against Azam Khan. The cases are related to the FIRs lodged by farmers accusing him of land grab. The farmers alleged Azam Khan of grabbing their land during the Samajwadi Party rule in Uttar Pradesh. The land is now a part of Khan's Jauhar University.

UP Law Student, Who Accused BJP Leader Chinmayanand Of Rape, Arrested On Extortion Charges



The UP law student, who accused BJP leader Chinmayanand of sexual assault, has been arrested on a charge of extortion by the special team probing the case. The 23-year-old had moved a local court for protection against arrest but did not get any immediate relief. The court had posted the hearing for Wednesday. Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police, OP Singh confirmed that the woman has been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for allegedly trying to extort money from Chinmayanand. The SIT had arrested Chinmayanand last week on a complaint from the law student. She has accused the BJP leader of rape and blackmail.

Pak-Based Terror Groups Airdrop Weapons Into Punjab, To Fuel Terror Attacks In J-K: Report

To fuel terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, authorities in Punjab have confirmed at least eight drone sorties, carrying 80 kg of weapons that were sent across the border into Punjab by revived Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) outufit backed by Pakistan and Germany-based terror group.
