Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Pary (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav has been admitted to Lucknow PGI hospital after his health deteriorated on Wednesday. His son and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has also reached the hospital to visit his ailing father. According to reports, the 79-year-old former UP CM has complained about stomach ache and was rushed to the PGI hospital in Lucknow. His family, however, has termed the hospital visit a routine checkup and denied any serious illness.
Mulayam, who is currently the member of Parliament from UP's Mainpuri, has served as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for three non-consecutive terms from 1989 to 1991, 1993 to 1995, and 2003 to 2007, respectively. He also served as the defence minister from 1996 to 1998 in the Third Front government.
Earlier in June this year, Mulayam had been admitted to Yashoda Super Speciality Hospitals, Kaushambi after he complained of urinary retention. The former Samajwadi Party chief has not been keeping good health for sometime and was admitted to Medanta Hospital the same month.
Recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited Mulayam's residence and inquired about his health. Mulayam's younger brother Shivpal Yadav was also present during the meeting with Adityanath, who also presented some books to the veteran SP leader and wished him good health.
