Supreme Court Allows Congress Leader Ghulam Nabi Azad To Visit Jammu And Kashmir
Supreme Court has allowed senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad to visit his home state of Jammu and Kashmir to enquire about the well being of his family members. Azad, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, will be allowed to visit Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag and Jammu during his visit. However, he will not be allowed make any speeches or hold any public rally.
Supreme Court Issues Notices To Centre, Jammu and Kashmir For Release Of Farooq Abdullah
The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the Centre and Jammu and Kashmir for release of National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah. Hearing the Habeas plea filed by MDMK chief Vaiko, the Supreme Court asked both the Modi government and J-K govt whether Farooq Abdullah is under any kind of detention. The top court has directed the Centre to present the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on September 30. The plea was heard by a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and justices S A Bobde and SA Nazeer. Vaiko is said to be a close friend of Abdullah for the past four decades. He has said that constitutional rights conferred on the National Conference leader had been deprived of on account of "illegal detention without any authority of law".
Farooq Abdullah Detained Under PSA
National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah was detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) on Sunday night. The act allows detention for up to two years without a trial. The order came just before the Supreme Court was to hear MDMK chief Vaiko’s habeas corpus petition on Abdullah’s detention. The place where Abdullah senior will be housed has been declared a temporary jail, through an order.

Gold and silver prices on Friday witnessed recovery, with the yellow metal rising Rs 70 to Rs 38,695 per 10 gram in the national capital, according to HDFC Securities. Silver prices also witnessed a gain of Rs 172 to Rs 48,400 per kilogram. On Thursday, it closed at Rs 48,228 per kilogram.

Delhi Police have taken a father-son duo from the US into custody for flying drone near Rashtrapati Bhavan. They were detained on Saturday evening for allegedly flying a drone fitted with a video camera in Lutyens’ Delhi. According to a report in Indian Express, the incident took place on September 14 and the duo was taken into custody the next day.

Curfew imposed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar
Curfew was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar after prominent leader of banned Jamaat-e-Islami Ghulam Nabi Gundana passed away at a hospital in Punjab on Sunday after prolonged illness. He was also affiliated to the Hurriyat Conference. Gundana, who was a retired government teacher, had undergone a surgery and was spared arrest during a major crackdown on the JeI leadership on March 2.
