11:00 am: A bus carrying a group of Chinese tourists crashed Wednesday near a popular New Zealand tourist town. Chinese officials say they've been told six tourists were killed, although police have yet to confirm a number. Police said the bus rolled on a highway about 20 minutes north of the town of Rotorua. Liang Zhi, a diplomat from the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand, told The Associated Press that they understand the bus was carrying the driver, a tour guide, and 23 tourists, most of them from the Sichuan province.

10:30 am: A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death by a gang in full public view during Ganeshotsav festival at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district allegedly over personal rivalry, police said on Wednesday. The three accused were at large, they said. Karthik Merla, who is the secretary of Hindu Jagaran Vedike, was attending the Yakshagana programme during Ganeshotsava in the town Tuesday night when the gang allegedly stabbed him to death near the Sampya police station.

10:00 am: One person died and three others, including two women, sustained injuries as an apple laden truck fell into gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district on Wednesday, police said. The 42-year-old truck driver Harnam Singh of Ludhiana (Punjab) died and its cleaner Sudhir Kumar (25) of Bihar's Vaishali district was injured, police said. As the truck fell into the gorge, a kutcha house (dharha) near Anandpur on Shoghi bypass was also damaged and two women inhabitants were injured, Shimla Superintendent of Police Omapati Jamwal said. The injured women were identified as Vimla (18) and Dhani Kala (50) and have been admitted in a nearby hospital for treatment, he said.

9:30 am: A 32-year-old man was found murdered in the fields at  Kandhla area in neighbouring Shamli district, police said on Wednesday. The body of Pramod Kumar was found with injuries in Alem village in the district on Tuesday evening. The deceased's tractor was also found in the fields, said Circle Officer Rajesh Tiwari. The body has been sent for post-mortem, he added.

9:00 am: Pope Francis arrives in Mozambique on Wednesday at the start of a three-nation tour of Indian Ocean African countries hard hit by poverty, conflict and natural disaster. 8:26 am: The Australian economy has recorded its weakest annual growth in a decade, official data released Wednesday showed, expanding just 1.4 percent in the year to June. The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported the economy grew 0.4 percent between April and June compared with the previous quarter, a small increase driven by mining exports and government spending.

8:12 am: Ramesh Solanki, a member of Shiv Sena IT Cell has filed a complaint at LT Marg police station against Netflix "for defaming Hindus and India".

7:56 am: At least seven people have been killed in the Bahamas by Hurricane Dorian, Prime Minister Hubert Minnis has said, after the storm delivered a devastating blow to the islands. Minnis said an additional two individuals had died, saying "that would take the number of deaths to seven." "We can expect more deaths to be recorded," he added.
