President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Anusuiya Uikey as Governor of Chhattisgarh and Biswa Bhusan Harichandan as Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
"The President of India is pleased to make the following appointments: Sushri Anusuiya Uikey as Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Biswa Bhusan Harichandan as Governor of Andhra Pradesh. The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices," the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement.
Harichandan joined Bharatiya Jana Sangha in 1971 and became its national executive member and its state general secretary till the formation of Janata Party in 1977. He was detained under MISA in 1975. He joined the BJP and was its President for State from 1980 to 1988.
He joined the Janata Party in 1988 and became its vice-president for the state. He again joined the BJP in April 1996.
