One policeman and at least nine civilians were injured after the terrorists hurled a hand grenade at a police station in Pulwama in South Kashmir. According to the initial reports, the grenade exploded outside the police station. The attack took place around 6.30 pm.
According to the official sources, all the injured civilians were immediately shifted to the hospital. “Four of the seriously injured persons has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment,” they said.
Soon after the terrorist attack, the area was cordoned off. In the meantime, security forces have launched the search for suspected terrorists involved in the attack.
It is to be noted that the terrorist attack comes hours after security forces eliminated the key conspirators of February 14 Pulwama terrorist attack in Anantnag. According to officials, Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Sajjad Ahmad Bhat’s car was used in the suicide bombing in the Lethpora area of Pulwama which killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers.
Unfortunately, a security personnel was also martyred in the encounter. In the fierce gun battle, security forces gunned down Sajjad Bhat and Tauseef. The encounter took place in Bijbehara area of the south Kashmir district in the morning following inputs about the presence of terrorists.
Earlier on Monday, terrorists lobbed a grenade at CRPF 180 Battalion's Headquarters in Tral, Pulwama. Fortunately, the grenade exploded outside and no casualties were reported.
