The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday reacted with an affidavit to jawan Tej Bahadur’s allegation that troopers posted along LoC were served meagre and poor quality food.
BSF report after enquiry says, he also threatened training officer and put training gun on his Company Commander. He was awarded 89 days rigorous Imprisonment in March 2010 by Court Martial.
The affidavit mentions that Tej Bahadur since his joining indulged into indiscipline acts at regular intervals. The BSF released the list of punishments awarded to jawan. It was mentioned that Tej Bahadur was sentenced to 14 days rigorous imprisonment for absenting himself for 13days without leave.
In another incident, Tej Bahadur was awarded 7 days rigorous imprisonment for manhandling his colleagues in March, 2013. He was also awarded with 20 days rigorous imprisonment for intoxication in 2007.
The BSF also mentioned in the affidavit that health and safety of Jawan are their prime responsiblity and they are following the transparent system for the Jawan and ensuring the good quality diet to them.
BSF said that they periodically supervises the food supplied to its personnel to ensure its quality. The food is cooked and distributed in BSF messes under the supervision of mess commander who is selected by troops from among the dinning members through a monthly mess meeting.
The BSF said in affidavit that in all BSF establishments, there is a system for recording the complaints/grievances of its personnel to be considered and the decision is conveyed to him on priority and maximum within 60 days.
