Border Security Force officials on Sunday recovered two packets of contraband suspected to be heroin from the Daoke border outpost in Amritsar sector. With this recovery, the BSF has so far seized 64.721 kg ofheroin in 2017 till now.
"During a special search operation carried out by BSF troops today in between Border Security Fence and the International Border, two packets of contraband suspected to be heroin (approx. 250 gms each, total 500 gms) were recovered from fields ahead of Border Security fence," said a BSF official.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of border due to the high grown wheat crops and heightened activities of smugglers and anti-national elements on border, Inspector General, BSF (Punjab Frontier) Mukul Goel has issued operational guidelines to all the sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination to effectively check activities of anti-national elements on the Punjab border with Pakistan.
Accordingly, field commanders have been directed to maintain heightened vigil on border to thwart the attempts ofanti-national elements. Tactical operations are being mountedto foil the attempts of the smugglers during the growth ofwheat crops, a BSF official said.
