The discovery of 11 bodies at the Bhatia home in North Delhi's Burari on Sunday had almost all newsrooms in the country in a tizzy. While the handwritten notes discovered from the house pointed to occult angle in the case, one of their relatives on Monday rubbished all 'bogus' reports, saying the family "never believed in babas".
Relatives and close family friends suspected 'foul play' in the incident and demanded a CBI investigation into the same.
"Someone killed them and all the reports on the spiritual angle are bogus. This family was a happy and peace-loving one who never believed in 'babas'," Sujata, a relative of the family told ANI.
Some of Bhatias' relatives alleged that this is a cold-blooded murder and dismissed the police theory that it could be a case of "suicide pact". While another relative, who spoke to the family last night, did not find any sign of depression in them.
All of their relatives refuted the "religious angle" and alleged that "someone killed them". The family, however, did not have enmity with anyone, the relatives added.

Referring to the handwritten notes talking about salvation, another relative said, "They believed in God but who believes in such things. They were educated people and not superstitious".
Earlier, police found ten hand-written notes, which revealed that the family was observing some mystical practices. According to police the notes were very exhaustive and had a striking similarity with the manner in which the mouths and eyes of the deceased were tied and taped.

Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the crime branch for further investigation and they are scrutinising the call data records and internet search history of the family.
The dead have been identified as 77-year-old woman Narayana, 60-year-old Pratibha, 30-year-old Priyanka, 46-year-old Bhupi, 42-year-old Savita, 24-year-old Neetu, 18-year-old Meenu, 42-year-old Lalit, 38-year-old Tina, and two minors.
Ten of those dead were found hanging from an iron-mesh in the ceiling, while the body of a 77-year-old woman was discovered on the floor in another room of the house.
