Father-in-law of a Bihar-cadre IAS officer Mukesh Pandey who committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad on Thursday evening said that it is a tough time for them and whatever TV channels are showing is baseless.
“Tough time for our family. There was no rift in the family. Whatever TV channels are showing is baseless,” RP Singh, Father-in-law of DM Buxar said.
According to government railway police sources, the 2012 batch IAS officer’s body was recovered a kilometre away from Ghaziabad GRP police station area.

The police identified him as district magistrate of Bihar’s Buxar from the identity-cards recovered from his possession. Delhi Police in their initial investigation have learnt that the IAS officer especially visited Delhi to commit suicide.
The police was informed about his plans to commit suicide by his friends, who had received a message from Pandey stating that he was going to commit suicide.

In the WhatsApp message to his friends, Pandey had written, “I am committing suicide in district centre area of Janakpuri West Delhi near hotel by jumping off the 10th floor of the building.” The deceased IAS officer further wrote to his friends that he was fed up with life.
“My belief on human existence has gone, my suicide note is kept in Nike bag in room 742 of Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi! I am sorry I love you all! plz forgive me!” the WhatsApp message to his friends read.
Delhi Police on learning about the suicide plans of the Buxar DM rushed to the mention site but the IAS officer had left the location before cops could get hold of him.
Later in the day, his body was recovered from railway-tracks, a kilometre away from the Ghaziabad GRP police station. GRP officials on seeing the Buxar DM’s body said, “It seems he jumped in front of a train. Things will be clear after post-mortem report”
