Calling for peace & harmony in Punjab, AAP National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal led a 'Shanti March' in Patiala. At this march, he addressed a ginormous gathering and said that Punjab has never seen such a weak & spineless government. He stated that AAP will bring an honest government and work in the interests of the 3 crore people of Punjab. CM Channi's Punjab Government had promised to jail the culprits of sacrilege within 48 hours, he informed, adding that it has been 10 days and no action has been taken.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal reiterated that attempts are being made to disrupt the atmosphere in Punjab again, and that the present government has failed to restore peace within Punjab. The current Punjab Government is not worried about the atmosphere of Punjab, these people are fighting among themselves for the chair of the CM, he stated. Had the mastermind behind the Bargari incident been severely punished then itself, the AAP Convenor said, no one would have dared to commit sacrilege ever again.
He stated that only the Aam Aadmi of Punjab can save the state now, adding that three crore Punjabis will have to join forces to save these holy lands. Thousands of people gathered at the peace march waving the Tiranga have sent a message to the enemies of Punjab saying that no power will break their spirit of unity and brotherhood. The power in Punjab will now fall into the hands of the common people under AAP, he concluded saying, that the people of Punjab will decide how the government functions. This Shanti March, led by Shri Arvind Kejriwal started from Sheranwala Gate Chowk, during which, the AAP Convenor marched on foot along with senior party leaders. A large number of supporters and Aam Aadmi Party workers were present in the peace march.

Among roaring chants of ‘_Bharat Mata ki Jai_’, ‘_Inquilab Zindabad_’ and ‘_Vande Mataram_’, Shri Arvind Kejriwal addressed AAP's ginormous Shanti March in Patiala. He began by saying, “Elections are coming up, friends! And as the voting time approaches, Punjab’s enemies have resumed their dirty antics. A few days ago, an incident of sacrilege took place on the sacred Shri Durbar Sahib.
The person who attempted sacrilege was most definitely not working independently, and was probably sent by some mastermind who was behind this disgraceful act. Why has this mastermind not been caught and sent to jail yet? Congress' Punjab Government had said that they would capture the brains behind these incidents within 48 hours, but over ten days have passed and no action has been taken, why? Several days after this unfortunate incident, a bomb blast took place in Ludhiana.Again, the perpetrator behind this has not been caught.”

He added, “During the last election season in 2017 as well, a bomb blast had taken place in Maur a week or so before the elections. In 2015 as well, an incident of sacrilege occurred in Bargari. Had the mastermind behind the Bargari incident been tracked and punished then itself, no one would have had the courage to commit sacrilege ever again. And again, just in time before the elections, several attempts are being made in order to disrupt peace and stir fear in people’s minds, to disturb Punjab’s atmosphere. If we leave Punjab at the whims of these political parties and their leaders, then the situation will only get worse. They will completely ruin the state of Punjab.
The only force that can save the state now is Punjab’s ‘Aam Aadmi’. You can all protect your state; the people of Punjab have to come together – all 3 crore of you. And I am elated to witness the vast crowds waving flags today, to see your immense support. Thousands of Punjabis have gathered here today bearing the Tiranga in their hands, representing the 3 crore population. They are here to make it clear to the people disrupting Punjab’s peace that ‘We will not let your plans succeed. We will not let you disrupt Punjab’s atmosphere or ruin our brotherhood.’The power in Punjab will now fall into the hands of the common people, in the hands of the public. And the people of Punjab will decide how the government functions in Punjab.”
Current Punjab Government is the weakest in the state’s history; it is not concerned for the people of Punjab or its progress: Arvind Kejriwal
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal continued, “I am truly pained to see how weak and incompetent the current Punjab Government is. We have never witnessed a more frail government in Punjab’s history, which is busy with its internal politics and infighting. This government couldn’t be less bothered about the people of Punjab or the state’s development. They are all simply fighting for the CM seat. No one is concerned about actual governance. The current Punjab Government has been an utter failure in reinstating peace in the state. In the upcoming elections, the Punjab Government will be overturned.An honest party’s government will be brought to power in Punjab.”

Shri Arvind Kejriwal concluded, “The thousands of people who have turned up at today’s ‘Shanti March’ are a ray of hope for Punjab and for us. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone gathered here today, that you came out in such large numbers despite a short notice. This is Punjab’s biggest strength. This is why we believe that no one is powerful enough to ever break Punjab’s spirit, to fracture its peace or the feeling of brotherhood that runs deep through everyone’s veins.”
