Cambridge Analytica behind Rahul Gandhi's 'Gabbar Singh Tax' phrase: Ravi Shankar Prasad

Cambridge Analytica behind Rahul Gandhi's 'Gabbar Singh Tax' phrase, says Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday accused the Congress of taking help of Cambridge Analytica, a data analysis firm accused in Facebook data privacy scandal, in the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections.

The law minister also accused that the Congress with the help of the firm came up with the viral phrases ‘Gabbar Singh Tax and Vikas Gone Crazy.’

"There are many proofs available that show that they misused the services of the company during the Gujarat elections," Prasad told the media.

The BJP targeted Rahul Gandhi after the Congress president tweeted, “Problem: 39 Indians dead; Govt on the mat, caught lying. Solution: Invent story on Congress & Data Theft. Result: Media networks bite bait; 39 Indians vanish from radar. Problem solved.”

The law minister also said that the Congress is a party without ethics. “They used illegal means to gain upper hand in state Assembly elections,” Prasad said.

Prasad said that the Congress' conspicuous silence on the issue has raised serious questions about its leadership's "ability to govern the country".

The Congress on Wednesday had denied having links with the firm involved in data theft and had accused the BJP and its ally the Janat Dal-United of using Cambridge Analytica’s services in 2010.
