The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided former Union Minister P Chidambaram’s residence in Chennai. As per reports, CBI conducted raid at 16 premises of Chidambaram and his family including son Karti Chidambaram in relation to the clearances given to INX media.
Raids were conducted after FIR against Karti Chidambaram on Monday.
Reacting on the raids, Chidambaram said, "Government by using CBI and other agencies is targeting my son and his friends. Government wants to silence my voice."
"Govt wants to stop me from writing,as it has tried to with leaders of Oppn parties,journalists,columnists,NGOs and civil society," he said.
According to media reports, the raids were linked to clearances given to INX media. INX media was once owned by Peter Mukherjea.
CBI is conducting searches at locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram and Chennai including the residence of Karti Chidambaram in connection with criminal misconduct in grant of FIPB approval.
