CBI raids Prannoy Roy's residences, NDTV terms it 'witch hunt'

Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday raided the premises of NDTV co-founder and Executive Co-Chairperson Prannoy Roy in Delhi and Dehradun. The CBI confirmed that the raids were in connection with the alleged loss caused to ICIC Bank to the tune of Rs 48 Crore.

Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday raided the premises of NDTV co-founder and Executive Co-Chairperson Prannoy Roy in Delhi and Dehradun. 

The CBI confirmed that the raids were in connection with the alleged loss caused to ICIC Bank to the tune of Rs 48 Crore. 

The investigating agency has registered a case against Prannoy Roy, Radhika Roy and others in the matter.

In reaction to NDTV's statement, Union Information and Broadcast Minister Venkiah Naidu refused the channel's claim and said that government does not beleive in intereferring, "Law is taking its own course, there is no witch-hunting at all," Naidu said. 

"This govt don't believe in interfering. They (CBI) must have some information, that's why they might have taken steps," the minister added.
