The society which celebrates the spirit of feminism will now be celebrating Navaratri or Navratri is one of the most auspicious festivals in the Hindu calendar.

Some people fasts during the nine days of the festival. Some offer food to Goddess Durga to show their devotion. Navratri is one of the ancient festivals.

Hindus worship Maa Durga and all her feminine aspects of divine femininity over nine days and nine nights. Navratri is held at the two most important junctions of the year- during the onset of the spring season and again during the commencement of the winter season.

According to Hindu calendar, Navratri is celebrated four times in a year, but the most significant in terms of public celebration are Chaitra and Sharad Navratri.

Chaitra Navratri marks the first day of Luni-Solar calendar of the Hindus, which generally falls in March or April. This year Chaitra Navratri will begin from March 28.

In the Northern part of India, Chaitra Navratri is known as Vasant Navratri is celebrated with full energy.

March 19 - Dwitiya - Sindhara Dooj and Brahmacharini Puja

March 20 - Tritiya – Gauri Teej, Saubhagya Teej and Chandraghanta Puja

March 21 - Chaturthi – Varad Vinayaka Chauth, Lakshmi Panchami and Kushmanda Puja

March 22 - Panchami – Naag Puja, Skanda Sashti and Skandamata Puja

March 23 - Shashti – Yamuna Chhath and Katyayani Puja

March 24 - Saptami – Maha Saptami, Kalaratri Puja, Durga Ashtami, Mahagauri Puja Annapurna Ashtami

March 25 - Ashtami – Sandhi Puja and Rama Navami

March 26 – Navratri Parana and Dashami
