A day after a 23-year-old pregnant woman died of swine flu in Hyderabad, another incident of death due to the viral disease has been reported. In Chandigarh, a 56-year-old man died of the disease at a hospital in Sector 32 on Monday.
The deceased was diabetic and suffering from hypertension. He died at the Government Medical College and Hospital, a health official said. “The patient was referred from the government hospital at Sector 16 here on Sunday in a serious condition,” he said.

“Thirteen cases have tested positive here so far during the current season in the Chandigarh area,” he further added.
Last week, a 58-year-old man had died of swine flu at a hospital in Ludhiana. Recently, a 40-year-old from Hoshiarpur had died due to swine flu at the Ludhiana hospital.
A 42-year-old man had also died of swine flu at the PGIMER in Chandigarh on July 20, the first casualty of the deadly H1N1 virus in the Union Territory this season.
