Nation was eagerly waiting for ISRO’s ambitious Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft for its soft landing on the Moon. However, communications with Chandrayaan-2's Vikram lander to ISRO's ground station in Bengaluru were lost minutes before touchdown. This was a big setback for ISRO and as well as to the country. In a statement, ISRO Chairman K Sivan said that communication from Chandrayaan 2's 'Vikram' lander to ground station was lost during its powered descent to the lunar surface in the early hours of Saturday and data is being analysed. Soon after this, many Twitter users came forward to comfort the scientists behind the Chandrayaan-2 mission and assure them that the Indians remain proud of their valiant effort to place the country's footprint on an unexplored part of the Moon.
President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, "With #Chandrayaan2 Mission, the entire team of ISRO has shown exemplary commitment and courage. The country is proud of ISRO. We all hope for the best."
