Honour killing horror was witnessed by shocked passerbys on Sunday in Tamil Nadu after a Dalit man was hacked to death and his wife was mercilessly attacked by at least three men in Tirupur area. The horrific attack, which was captured on camera took place in a busy market place with several people being witness to the attack.
However, shocked and terrified nobody interfered in the brutal crime which once again raised questions on the law and order situation in the state ruled by Amma- Jayalalithaa.
As seen in the footage, the attackers dragged the man onto a pavement next to a busy road and beat him with weapons.
After the man, the attackers launched an attack on the woman, hitting her repeatedly till she fell on the ground.
Later they fled on a motorcycle.
V Sankar, 23, was pursuing his third year of engineering and had married Kausalya, 19, eight months ago. The women's parents, who are from an upper caste, were allegedly unhappy with the marriage.
Tamil Nadu police have formed five teams and launched a massive manhunt to find the attackers. This is the third such incident in Tamil Nadu in the last five years.
