Chhath Puja, one of the most popular festivals of Bihar is round the corner and major railway stations are witnessing huge rush of passengers. This time of the year yields maximum rush as people can be seen packing themselves into train coaches.
The Railways has planned and commenced running of 29 pairs of special trains which would constitute 501 trips. Trains for Patna, Barauni, Saharsa, Varanasi, Lucknow and Gorakhpur have been announce to clear extra rush of passengers during the festival season.
The Anand Vihar-Patna-Anand Vihar Jansadharan Express Special, Anand Vihar-Saharsa-Anand Vihar Jansadharan Express, Anand Vihar-Jay Nagar-Anand Vihar Jansadharan Express and Sirhind-Saharsa-Ambala unreserved Express will be pressed into service to clear the ‘Chhath’ rush.
The Anand Vihar-Darbhanga superfast bi-weekly Express Special train will depart from Anand Vihar from October 19 till December 12 on every Wednesday and Saturday at 1.45 pm to reach Darbhanga at 8 am the next day. Comprising two AC-II coaches, three AC-III coaches, 16 sleeper class and two second class-cum-luggage van coaches, the train will halt at Kanpur, Allahabad, Mughalsarai, Patna and Samastipur stations en route in both the directions.
The Anand Vihar-Saharsa Jansadharan Express Special train will depart from Anand Vihar on October 21, 28 and November 4 at 11 PM to reach Saharsa at 9 pm the next day. With 16 general class and two second class-cum-luggage van coaches, the train is scheduled for halt at Kanpur, Allahabad, Mughalsarai, Patna, Barauni, Begusarai and Khagaria stations en route in both the directions.
The New Delhi Barauni special train having AC 2 Tier and AC 3 Tier accommodation and stoppages at Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Gonda, Basti, Gorakhpur, Deoria Sadar, Siwan, Chhapra, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur stations enroute will be start from New Delhi.
The Anand Vihar Varanasi special train having Ist AC, AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper and General Class accommodation and stoppages at Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow and Sultanpur stations enroute will leave at 9.50 PM from Anand Vihar.
The Anand Vihar Lucknow having AC 2 Tier cum-AC 3 Tier, Sleeper and General class accommodation and stoppages at Shahjhanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Hapur and Ghaziabad stations enroute will leave at 8.30 PM.
The Anand Vihar Gorakhpur having unreserved class accommodation and stoppages at Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Sitapur Cantt., Burhwal, Gonda and Basti stations enroute will leave at 11.15 PM from Anand Vihar.

The New Delhi Barauni special train having AC 2 Tier and AC 3 Tier accommodation and stoppages at Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Gonda, Basti, Gorakhpur, Deoria Sadar, Siwan, Chhapra, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur stations enroute will be start from here tomorrow at 7.25 PM, according to a release.

Northern Railway has planned and commenced running of total 78 pairs of special trains with total of 1761 trips to cater to extra rush during festival period. Northern Railway has also enhanced passenger carrying capacity of many trains augmenting with an additional of 89 coaches marking 2410 trips in all to cater the enhanced demand.

in more number of unreserved special trains would be started
from Anand Vihar Terminal, Old Delhi, New Delhi on short
