At least 3 villagers including a woman were killed and several others injured after lightning struck them in Korba district, Chhattisgarh, the police said on Sunday.
Station house officer (SHO), Katghora, SS Rajput said that the victims were returning home after working at paddy fields in Dongri village when heavy rains started on Saturday evening.
In order to protect themselves from the heavy rains, they took shelter in an under-construction building when lightning struck them, Rajput added.
The deceased were identified as Chandrapal Singh Kanwar (47), Budhwar Singh Kanwar (50) and Sumitra Bai (55), the SHO said.

Those who got serious and minor injuries were admitted to a local community health centre. However, one among the injured ones was later shifted to to Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences at Bilaspur, Rajput said.
The local administration assured the victims of providing necessary assistance, as per the rules, he added.
Katghora is located around 30 kms from Korba, which is is at distance of about 220 kms from the state capital Raipur.
