A 70-year-old man was killed on Monday after a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by CPI-Maoists went off in Kansaram village of Chhattisgarh’s Sukma, around 500 kilometers from the state capital.
Sukma superintendent of police Abhishek Meena said, “The IED was planted in a field.â€
He added, “As per preliminary investigation, the man inadvertently stepped on the pressure IED while passing through the field on the outskirts of the village. He died at the incident site.â€
The deceased has been identified as Karko Kanna.
According to Chhattisgarh police, another villager was killed in an IED explosion in the village outskirt.
