Chattisgarh government has a reason to pat their backs as 11 hardcore members of the CPI-Maoist along with weapons surrendered with the police on citing disappointment with the “hollow” Maoist ideology at the time the left-wing extremist outfit are observing 'Martyrs Week — July 28 - August 3.'
Red cadres including five carrying cash reward on their heads surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, police said on Wednesday.
The Naxals including three women turned up to Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena at the district headquarters, police added. Two guns were also surrendered by them.
Two of the surrendered Naxals Kunjam Hadma and Madvi Hidma were carrying cash reward of Rs 8 lakh each, the SP said. Both were active in the south Bastar region and attached to the military wing of Maoists, he told PTI.

Besides these two, Tati Sanki was carrying Rs 2 lakh cash reward on her head. The remaining two out of five, Dirdo Deva and Kadti Hidme were carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on their heads, The rest of the ultras were active as lower-rung cadres, the officer said.
The Naxals said they were disappointed with the “hollow” ideology of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and violence carried out by the outfit. Hence, they decided to surrender and join the national mainstream, Meena said.
Moreover, they were impressed with the provisions of the state government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy for rebels, the police officer added. Rs 10,000 in cash was given to each of the surrendered rebels as encouragement money, the SP said.
