A security personnel participating in the anti-insurgency operation in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district was injured during a fierce gunbattle between joint security forces and CPI-Maoist cadres on Monday.
A joint operation including Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF )and Chhattisgarh Police was launched in Dhantiwada’s Bandipara village after an IED blast took place.
According to a senior officer of the CRPF, the anti-insurgency operation was launcehed at the area after and IED explosion was reported.
He added that the Maoists cadres indiscriminately opened fired at the security personnel as they neared Bandipara village.

“Responding to the gunfires, security forces took their position and are retaliating.”
A fierce gunbattle is ongoing between security forces and Naxals at the time report was being filed.
On Sunday a ward councillor had suffered critical injuries after a pressure bomb planted by CPI-Maoists exploded at Sukma district of the state.
