Chhattisgarh: Two CRPF jawans injured in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Sukma

An IED blast triggered by Naxals near Sukma district has left two CRPF Jawans injured. The blast took place between Doranapal and Misma areas in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

An IED blast triggered by Naxals near Sukma district has left two CRPF Jawans injured. The blast took place between Doranapal and Misma areas in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. 

The injured jawans belonged to 2nd battalion of CRPF. According to initial reports, the jawans have been taken to the district headquarters for the medical care. 

"Today morning on a specific information troops of 2nd Bn CRPF led by Comdt RS Shekhawat conducted an operation in Paraiya, under PS Dornapal, Sukma Dist. An exchange of fire took place between CRPF and Naxals. Thereafter Naxals fled from the scene taking advantage of jungles," an official statement said on Friday.

The statement further informed, "While the troops were returning back an IED bast took place in which HC/GD K K Tyagi and CT/GD Mithun Kumar sustained injuries in legs. Immediately they were evacuated to Unit hospital in Sukma. After initial treatment they are evacuated by helicopter to Raipur. They are reportedly stable and out of danger."

The incident comes in midst of ongoing anti-Maoists operations triggered by a massive ambush attack on CRPF last month, which left 25 jawans dead.
