Chief Minister Raghubar Das offers financial aid to victims of Maoist attacks

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Sunday handed over financial grants and appointment letters to the family members of those killed in Maoist attacks and criminal activities.

The compensation, as part of the Victims’ Compensation Scheme, 2012, was given at a function on the day of Diwali.

Das handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh each to the family members of a four-year-old girl, who was raped and murdered a couple of months ago, and one person killed by criminals in Sidgora police station area here recently.

He also handed over appointment letters to Gulapi Murmu, a widow of Soken Murmu who was killed by Naxals in East Singhbhum district in 2008.

Gulapi was given the job in Dalbhum Circle on compensatory ground. The Victims Compensation Scheme was framed to compensate and rehabilitate the family members of those raped and murdered, belonging to any section of society.

Among others, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar, Sub-Divisonal Officer (Dalbhum) Suraj Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop T Mathew and Superintendent of Police (City) Prasant Kumar were present on the occasion.
