China on Friday expressed condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives due to dust storm in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The high-intensity dust storms had wreaked havoc and killed more them 100 people.

"We express sympathy and our sincere condolences," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying while addressing media in Bejing said. Hua mourned for the victims and wished for their speedy recovery.

The powerful dust storm which were followed by thunder showers left a trail of destruction in parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh on May 2. As per the latest figures, 109 people were killed while nearly 200 injured.

The dust storms brought down mud houses, flattened crops and uprooted trees & poles, leading to power outrage.

Several political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi expressed sorrow at the loss of lives.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Thursday, announced a compensation for the victims. The dust storms brought down the temperature but caused devastation in several places.
