The Aam Aadmi Party termed the allegations of cabinet minister Rana Gurjit Singh of ‘appointing SSPs (Senior Superintendent of Police) in exchange of money’ on his own Congress government, as very unfortunate for Punjab. Senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, reacting to the incident, said that the Congress government is a Mega corrupt government because their leaders are running the mafia themselves sitting in the government.
He said that Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who pretended to be the leader of the common people, is answerable about the postings of police officers, done by his government by taking money. Cheema said, Congress changed the Chief Minister to hide the last four-and-a-half years of failures and corrupt rule of its government. But even after changing the Chief Minister, just like the previous Captain and Badal governments, corruption is happening under their new government.
He said that the Congress government is looting Punjab. Many Congress ministers and MLAs are doing transfers & postings business to hoard money while sitting in power. Right now the matter of only one department has come to the light but the truth is that officers are being transferred in exchange of money openly in all the departments. He said that for the convenience of the mafia, Congress ministers are fighting among themselves for the transfers and postings of officers. Under the Channi government, the mafia is being encouraged by misusing the police, Congress ministers and MLAs themselves are saying this.
The corruption of the leaders and ministers of the Congress government has proved that honest governance cannot be expected from the Congress. He said that for the Congress, power is not a service but a means of earning money. Congress leaders have nothing to do with public work. They do politics to get their benefits and for position. Congress leaders are only concerned about hoarding money. Cheema appealed to the people of Punjab and said that in the Assembly elections of 2022, they should overthrow this mega corrupt and mafia government of Congress to form an honest government.
