Tamil Nadu chief minister K Palanisamy urged Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday to exempt Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The chief minister "made a request" with Javadekar in this regard during a meeting in Chennai, a brief government release said.
Palanisamy had taken up the matter during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week.
He had urged Modi to approve two Tamil Nadu bills, allowing exemption for the students from the state from appearing in NEET to get admission into medical and dental colleges in the state.
