An incident of eve-teasing led to a communal clash in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district, police said Thursday. While tension prevailed, the situation in Palam town of the district was now under control, a police official told PTI.
A girl was allegedly teased by a group of youths in the town Wednesday evening, which led to clashes between two communities. Rioters ransacked shops, hotels and two-wheelers parked on the road, he said, adding that stones were also pelted at police and their vehicles.
The situation was brought under control with deployment of additional force after two and a half hours, he said. The police registered a case against about 400 persons from both the communities and have arrested seven persons so far, the official added.
