According to earlier reports, Rahul Gandhi was yet to accept the resignation letter sent by Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken.
Earlier reports claimed that Maken had left the post of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief and left for a medical check-up in a foreign country.
Maken has been elected as a Member of Parliament twice and three times to the Delhi Legislative Assembly. He was the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly in 2004 before taking over MS Gill as the Minister of Sports and youth affairs in 2011.
In 2017, Maken had resigned following Congress’ loss in the local municipal polls, only to be rejected by the party head. Maken had taken the responsibility of the humiliating loss.
Ajay Maken took over Arvinder Singh Lovely as DPCC president in 2015.
