The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal presented 1 lakh ‘zero electricity bills’ of Delhi consumers under the free power scheme by the Delhi government as documentary evidence to the people of Punjab and also challenged Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh to show the zero price bills of only 1,000 electricity consumers to the people of Punjab. According to Kejriwal, Charanjit Singh Channi only makes announcements but does not implement them.
“Channi is spending a lot of government money on various advertisements and hoardings for his fake publicity, but they are not doing any work at the grass root level. Due to which today every section including unemployed teachers, employees, farmers, traders, doctors, nurses are sitting on dharna and protests,” he said. On Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal was addressing the program ‘Janta nal Kejriwal ji di galbaat’ organized by the party at Mohali in which people and party volunteers from different districts of Punjab were present. On the occasion, AAP Punjab president and MP Bhagwant Mann, Punjab affairs in-charge and MLA Jarnail Singh, Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, MLAs Principal Budhram, Jai Singh Rodi, Amarjit Singh Sandoa were present on the occasion; while the stage was officiated by MLA Aman Arora.
While listening to the problems of the people of Punjab and sharing his views with them during the program, Kejriwal said, “Out of 50 lakh households in Delhi, 35 lakh households get free electricity. Proof of this is the 1 lakh electricity bills, in which zero bills are mentioned.
Now Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi should show only 1,000 free electricity bills (excluding 200 unit waiver bills for Dalits) as he has also announced to provide free electricity in Punjab.” He said that all the promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party to the people of Delhi have been fulfilled. Delhi's schools and education system, free and 24-hour power supply, good hospitals and cheap treatment are all facilities available to the people of Delhi. While in Punjab, the Congress and the Akali Dal Badal had promised a lot to provide facilities to the people, but did not provide any facilities by forming a government
Instead, they have built their own palaces, he added. Kejriwal said, “We have guaranteed free electricity to the people of Punjab, 24 hours uninterrupted power supply, opening of 16,000 mohalla clinics, giving Rs 1,000 per month to women, improving school and education system and building good hospitals and eradicating corruption. With the formation of the AAP government in Punjab, all the guarantees will be fulfilled at all costs.” The AAP supremo also appealed to the people of Punjab that they have repeatedly formed the Congress, Akali Dal Badal governments, but those running the governments have looted Punjab and harassed the people. So now give a chance to the Aam Aadmi Party to establish a state of common people in Punjab.
Kejriwal further said that if Punjab had got free and 24 hours electricity, good schools, good hospitals, Ghar-Ghar Rozgar and five marla plots, then vote for the Congress party. If nothing was provided and they want facilities like Delhi, they must press the ‘broom’ button and give the AAP a chance to form the government. He appealed to the party volunteers to work hard for the betterment and prosperity of Punjab and prepare for elections with unity; because together we have to make Punjab a prosperous Punjab. Earlier, AAP Punjab president and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann in his address said, “The Congress party had made many promises to the people of Punjab by issuing 129-page election manifesto during the 2017 elections, but the Congress government did not implement even 29 words out of its manifesto. Although the Congress party has changed its Chief Minister for two-and-a-half months, the Congress party will be held accountable for a full 5 years, not two-and-a-half-months.”
Lashing out at the Channi government, Mann said that change of Chief Minister had not made any difference in the functioning of the government. Earlier five years ago, people seeking rights were beaten in Bathinda, then employees were beaten in Patiala for the last four-and-a-half-years and now they are being beaten in Morinda and Kharar for two-and-half-months. Accusing Charanjit Singh Channi, Bhagwant Mann said, “Instead of resolving the issues of teachers and other employees, the Chief Minister was ordering registration of FIRs on them. But that is not the case in Delhi, where teachers and employees are respected. Therefore, good facilities are being provided to the people of Delhi.”
On the occasion, party leaders including Harchand Singh Barsat, Neena Mittal, Dr Sunny Singh Ahluwalia, Anmol Gagan Mann, Harjot Singh Bains, Lalit Mohan Pathak, Santosh Kataria, Dr Charanjit Singh, Kuljit Singh Randhawa, Vineet Verma, Prabhjot Kaur, among others were present.
