Congress forms panel under Ajay Maken for conducting pan-India campaigns against central government

A committee has been prepared by Congress which will be chaired by Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken and oversee preparations for its campaigns across the city in January as part of its pan- India campaign against "anti-people policies" of the Centre. AICC general secretary and Delhi in-charge PC Chacko has set up the panel, which includes two co-chairpersons.

Chattar Singh will be the convener of the committee. Sixteen members of the committee included senior party leaders Sheila Dikshit, Kapil Sibal, Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar and Sandeep Dikshit. Karn Singh, Janardan Dwivedi and Parvez Hashmi will be among the nine ex-officio members of the committee.

Congress has termed the exercise to demonetise Rs 1,000 and old Rs 500 notes a 'deshbandi' (lockdown of country).
