In a direct reply to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s comments on Rahul Gandhi, the Congress on Thursday called the Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief as a dictator. Earlier, Rao described Rahul Gandhi as India’s “biggest buffoon” in what was an all-out attack towards the Congress chief.

A senior Congress leader RC Khuntia replied to KCR’s remarks by labelling him “a dictator worse than Hitler” for banning protests at Hyderabad as Telangana prepares for early polls after the dissolution of the state assembly on Thursday.

“Can a person who comes from a movement deny people their democratic rights,” asked the Congress leader.

Earlier on Thursday, Rao had launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi while addressing a press conference following the dissolution of the state assembly.

“The more he (Rahul Gandhi) comes, it will be easier for us (to win elections),” IANS had quoted Rao as saying.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi had been constantly criticising K Chandrashekhar Rao for not delivering on his promises and promoting monopoly in the state.

“Today, Telangana has become the capital of corruption... wherever you see, somebody’s land is snatched. This state is ruled by a one-family government. All the benefits are only for one family,” Gandhi said last month.

The elections in Telangana was due in April-May 2019, however, the final decision to hold an early election is now completely on the Election Commission.
