Congress president Rahul Gandhi will visit his parliamentary constituency of Wayanad in Kerala on Friday after registering a resounding victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. On his three-day visit, Rahul Gandhi will thank the electorates. He had won the seat by a record margin of 4.31 lakh votes. The Congress chief is expected to hold six roadshows in major towns across the Wayanad district. His first roadshow will be held at Kalpetta town at 10.30 am, second at Kambalkkad. The others would be held at Panamaram, Mananthavadi, Pulpalli and Sultan Batheri. He will also address public meetings in various towns of Wayanad district and Thiruvambadi assembly segment on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
In Wayanad, the Congress president defeated his nearest Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate PP Suneer by a record margin of over 4.31 lakh votes. While Gandhi secured 7,06,367 votes, Suneer ended up bagging 2,74,597 votes. The BJP-led NDA candidate Thushar Vellapally, who is also state NDA chairman, came a poor third, polling about 78,000 votes.

According to media reports, a senior Congress leader said, “Uncertainty at the helm is really affecting the party rank and file. We hope he will feel rejuvenated with support from his new turf and surge ahead. After his Wayanad trip, we want him to travel the width and breadth of the country,” the leader said.
Gandhi’s Twitter account for Wayanad announced on Friday, "Congress President and newly elected Member of Parliament from Wayanad, Shri Rahul Gandhi will be in the constituency on 7th and 8th of June to thank the people for their love and support".
