Congress president Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Rahul Gandhi extending support to opposition unity rally on Saturday. “The entire opposition is united... I extend my support to Mamata Di on this show of unity and hope that we send a powerful message of a united India together,” he wrote in his letter, according to ANI. With an eye on Delhi, the TMC is all geared up for Saturday's rally. "The entire opposition is united in our belief that true nationalism and development can only be defended on the tested pillars of democracy, social justice and secularism, ideas that the BJP and Mr Modi (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) are intent on destroying," he wrote.

Mamata Banerjee said would sound the "death knell" for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the coming Lok Sabha polls. Leaders of over 20 opposition parties are expected to attend the rally at the iconic Brigade Parade Ground here on Saturday to vow to put up a united fight against the "misrule" of the saffron party. The TMC hopes to use the rally as a platform to prop Banerjee as a leader who can "take along other parties" and challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the General Elections. Banerjee, the brain behind the mega opposition rally, on Thursday said the regional parties would be the deciding factor in the Lok Sabha polls.
