Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday apparently attacked Modi government for imposing "divisive, narrow-minded and communal policies."
While speaking at opposition parties’ meet, She said the opposition will put a hard fight in presidential and vice-presidential polls.
Without mentioning BJP-led NDA government, Sonia said, "We can't and must not let India be hostage to those who wish to impose upon it narrow-minded, divisive and communal vision."
She further said, "In these contests, numbers may be against us. But battle must be fought and fought hard."

She expressed her hope in Meira Kumar and Gopal Krishna Gandhi, who are candidates for presidential and vice-presidential poll respectively, saying that they would give the best society to people amid the crisis that has beset our country.

The Congress president said the President and Vice-President are the constitutional heads of state and they are entrusted to discharge duties of offices in a manner that preserves, protects, defends the Constitution and the law, but both are under siege today.
