With just a week left for the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018, the speculations over Congress President Rahul Gandhi's marriage with Raebareli MLA Aditi Singh are doing rounds on social networking sites.

Earlier on Saturday, social media was going bonkers with a few viral pictures showcasing the Congress chief with the Raebareli MLA.

The rumours announcing the marriage in May itself were first circulated on some WhatsApp groups in Raebareli, according to reports.

However, being asked about the same an annoyed Aditi said, "I am really saddened by the way such baseless rumours are being spread. Rahul ji is like an elder brother to me. I ritualistically tie rakhi on his hands. Those behind the link up are absolutely wrong and aimed to malign my image and that of Rahul Gandhi ji," Times of India reported.

"My wedding with Rahul Gandhi is propaganda in wake of the Karnataka elections. the intention appears to distract Congress leadership and workers who are toiling in Karnataka. And it is anyone's guess on who could be behind it," the 30-year-old Raebareli MLA added.

"Rahul Gandhi ji mere rakhi wale bhai hai. yeh afwah matra hai (Rahul Gandhi ji is like an elder brother to me. I tie rakhi to him. this is a mere rumour)," Aditi tweeted on Sunday morning and expressed her anger over the link up.

The young Raebareli MLA was very close to Rahul's sister Priyanka Gandhi and the pictures supporting the baseless rumours were taken during Sonia Gandhi's recent visit to Raebareli. Her family knew the Gandhis for decades and the pictures were of the recent meetings, Aditi clarified in another tweet.

Aditi pursued Masters in Management Studies from Duke University, USA. The young Indian politician is the daughter of Akhilesh Singh, a five-time MLA from Raebareli. Aditi won her first election with a margin of more than 90,000 votes.
