Congress tells HD Kumaraswamy to stay strong after public breakdown

Congress on Sunday tried to lift up the spirits of HD Kumaraswamy after his public breakdown at a party event saying he has to be courageous to face his problems and current circumstances.

"You have to face problems. Simply expressing won't give good message to people who supported secular parties. Kumaraswamy should be courageous to face such circumstances," Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said.

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy broke down at an event organised by JD-S to felicitate him for becoming the Chief Minister on July 14.

He told his workers that he was unhappy as he is leading a coalition government which does not have the complete support of the people of Karnataka.

"You are all happy because you think that your brother has become the CM. But I am not happy. Only I know what I am going through," he said.

Talking about the tough situation he is facing, he said, "My aim as the CM is to not enjoy the power but solve the problems of the people of this state. I wanted to fulfil the unfinished agenda of my father which was to solve the problems of farmers, daily wage workers and downtrodden people, irrespective of their caste and religion."
