The Congress Working Committee (CWC) is set to meet on Saturday as the issue of Assam’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the controversies surrounding the Rafale deal is expected to be discussed. The Committee is also set to build its strategy on current economic and political situation in the country.

The meeting will take place at the Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi’s residence and will be the second one under him.

The party’s decision making committee is also expected to build up strategies for the upcoming Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Rajasthan) and the expected alliances for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier on July, Rahul Gandhi was authorised to take decisions on pre-poll and post-poll alliances to defeat the Narendra Modi-led government in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Following the first meet, the Congress had announced Rahul Gandhi as its prime minister candidate.

The new Congress Working Committee have a total of 23 members and the committee acts as an advisory panel behind all the key decisions of the party.
