The ongoing attacks on BJP members in the valley have created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among party workers. While a lot of BJP members have moved from their residences to live in secured zones, many of them still fear of their lives.
In Central Kashmir's Budgam District, BJP's OBC district president Hamid Najar was shot at by militants as he left the secured location provided by the authorities and moved towards his own residence. He was seriously injured in the incident and succumbed to death on Monday morning.
Kulgam Sarpanch Vijay Raina says, "there is a little fear among the party members in the valley but we trust the security forces and are sure that these Pak sponsored terrorists will be killed soon". His remarks have come after after yesterday’s attack on a BJP member from Budgam who was shot at and later succumbed to death. An audio clip has been doing the rounds on the social network site categorically threatening people associated with the BJP.
Many BJP members have been taken to safe locations, and several have left the party. Dozens of BJP members's registration have appeared on social networks in the last two days. While BJP leaders admit that they feel unsafe at the moment, Abid Hussain Bhat, District General Secretary BJP from Ganderbal, has been living under security for some time now.Talking on the resignation of one party member from same region, he confessed the environment of fear and anxiety, saying that he was a part time worker and resigned today. He added further that administration has managed to give us protection and keep us in secured location. But the threat is everywhere across kashmir. He said that there is no threat to NC or PDP. The threat is looming over those who think they are Indians. BJP cares for each of us. BJP leadership has sought an investigation into these attacks.
BJP Leader Darakshan Andrabi this morning visited the facility where these BJP members have been kept under tight security. She said, 'I have come to see my people and to see their safety. We have been asked from high command to keep these members safe. We want everyone in the valley to be safe along with peace and development. We have complete support of Police and administration. She sais that resignations are just a part but there is no scare now. She expressed hope that soon peace will prevail in the valley.
President of Sarpanch association from Ganderbal Nazir Ahmad Raina said on his killing, 'Today also one of our family members has been martyred, your family members have selected0 us. We are working for you only, for roads, for doctors and for all developmental works. If being a Sarpanch is our fault, ask your family why they voted us. He added that death is in the hands of god. The martyred bjp member is also from your family and you have to reply to your god for that, said Nazir Ahmad Raina. So far five BJP members have been killed and one injured in the recent attacks.
