Coronavirus: At Least 555 Cases For COVID-19 Reported In India, Death Count Reaches 10

As many as 120 cases for coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported across India on Tuesday, taking the total count to 555. So far, a total of 10 deaths have been reported across the country.

As many as 120 cases for coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported across India on Tuesday, taking the total count to 555. So far, a total of 10 deaths have been reported across the country. Maharashtra has accounted for 101 of the total 555 cases, followed by Kerala (91). The coronavirus cases have been increasing constantly even though there is a complete lockdown in 32 states and union territories till March 31. In view of the increased cases of coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the country today at 8 pm.

Centre and state governments are taking steps to check the spread of the deadly disease. All integrated check posts (ICPs) at all airports, seaports, land ports, rail ports, and river ports are closed down. Also, there is a complete lockdown in 75 districts across the country where coronavirus cases have been reported so far.

Two states - Punjab and Maharashtra - and a UT - Puducherry - have already declared curfew in their respective areas. Whereas, in Delhi, section 144 has been imposed.

Not only this, but Indian Railways has also suspended all passenger services until March 31 and said only goods trains will run during the period. Moreover, the metro rail services were also suspended till March 31.

Coronavirus has also affected the economy of the country. With the coronavirus lockdown hitting the Indian industry hard and causing job losses, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a press conference today and said that an economic package will be announced to soon that will tackle the crisis.

According to the official data, as many as 37 people have been cured/discharged/migrated. As on date, cumulatively 1,87,904 persons are under surveillance, and around 35,073 have completed 28 days observation period as on day.

Early today, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan reviewed the status of containment and management of COVID-19 in the country and emphasised on the quality and sturdiness of the community surveillance and contact tracing.

With the death count crossing 16,000-mark, the novel coronavirus outbreak, also known as COVID-19, has created havoc across the world.
