Coronavirus: Leaves Of Army Personnel Extended Till April 15, Postings, Transfers Also Stand Deferred

New Delhi:

In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the leaves of army personnel have been extended to April 15, 2020. According to the new advisory, all the postings and transfers of Army personnel have been deferred while the temporary duty of all ranks remain stand rescheduled or cancelled till 15th April. The force has decided to reduce the attendance in its offices with effect from 23rd March, except for the personnel engaged in essential or emergency services directly involved in taking measures to control spread of COVID-19.

These measures were taken after Army Chief General MM Naravane on Friday reviewed the preparations of the force to tackle the spread of coronavirus. The new army advisory adds that 35% officers and 50% Jawans to work from home adhering to home quarantine for a week starting 23 March while the 2nd group will proceed on home quarantine from 30 March.

Similar slew of measures have been adopted for the management of ranks as well as foreign postings. No Officer or Other Rank (OR) will be travelling to or from any foreign country till April 15.

According to latest updates, the total number of positive cases of coronavirus in India has gone up to 223 which include 32 foreigners. Moreover, India has reported 4 deaths so far one 1 each in Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra due to coronavirus, according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
