With the number of coronavirus cases hitting triple-digit figures in India, the Narendra Modi government has decided to introduce new regulation for monitoring the COVID-19 suspects. According to a report by the Times of India, the Centre has now made two negative tests mandatory for all those quarantined or isolated under suspicion of coronavirus. This means that any person, who has been hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment/suspicion will be discharged only after she/he is tested negative in 24 hours.
This regulation will help the authorities to ensure those getting discharged from hospitals or are being allowed to step out of quarantine have zero risks of spreading the virus. So far, India has reported 110 cases of coronavirus. Maximum cases have been reported from Maharashtra. Mumbai has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC to enforce a strict ban on public gatherings. As many as 13 states across India have reported active cases of coronavirus. Additionally, 3 more individuals have been cured of the COVID-19 disease.

Meanwhile, Italy on Sunday recorded 368 new deaths from the novel coronavirus, its highest one-day increase to date, taking the total to 1,809, the most outside China, official data showed. The number of infections has reached 24,747, a count released to the media by Italy's civil protection service said. The northern Lombardy region around Milan remained the European epicentre of the pandemic, officially reporting 1,218 deaths, or 67 per cent of the Italian total. But Sunday also saw the number of deaths in the southeastern Puglia region around the city of Bari double from eight to 16. The Lazio region that includes the Italian capital Rome has officially recorded 16 deaths in all -- up from 13 on Saturday -- and 436 infections.
