Coronavirus Outbreak Live Updates: In an unprecedented development, major Indian cities began sealing the corona hotspots in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly virus. The sealing drive that began from Thursday saw localities in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh being completely locked down with zero movements. This is in addition to the ongoing national 21-day lockdown. Some states and cities have also made it compulsory for people to wear a mask in public places. In all likelihood, there are very high chances of the national lockdown to be extended after April 14. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hinted towards an extension when he told the floor leaders during an all-party meeting that lifting the lockdown is not possible at the moment. Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad had also said that almost 80 per cent of the political leadership was of the view that the extension of the lockdown is in the national interest. On the global level, the coronavirus pandemic has claimed 88,444 lives so far. According to Johns Hopkins University's live tracker, nearly 1.5 million people across the world are battling the COVID-19 infection.
