With an aim to prevent the further spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in India, PM Modi-led central government on Thursday announced that all international commercial passenger services will remain close till April 14, 2020. However, the cargo services have been exempted from the restrictions.
“It has been decided that scheduled international commercial passenger services shall remain closed till 18:30 hrs (GMT) of April 14, 2020,” said Directorate General of Civil Aviation in its notification. “This will not apply to approved international all-cargo operations and flights,” it added.

The development comes a day after the Indian Railways announced the suspension of passenger trains till April 14, 2020. This means passenger trains, suburban trains, and Kolkata Metro rail will not run till 2400 hours of April 14, 2020. The goods trains will continue to run as per the schedule.
All domestic commercial flights have already been suspended indefinitely from the midnight of March 24, 2020.
It is to be noted that on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a complete lockdown in the country amidst rising cases of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the death count in India has reached 15 due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus in the country. According to the latest update, a total of 649 cases of coronavirus has been reported in India so far. Union health ministry asserted that the rate of increase in the positive cases was "relatively stable" in India.

It is worth mentioning here that the novel coronavirus, which originated in China, has claimed thousands of lives across the world. With no known cure so far for the coronavirus, the deadly disease has become a major issue for the entire world.
