Coronavirus Outbreak Latest Updates: The number of novel coronavirus cases in India crossed 250 on Saturday with many new Covid-19 cases being reported in various parts of the country. Meanwhile, coronavirus entered The White House as a staffer in the team of US Vice President Mike Pence tested positive for the virus. China, where the novel coronavirus originated, reported no domestically transmitted coronavirus cases for the third consecutive day. However, seven more fatalities were confirmed taking the death toll in the country to 3255. Italy, already the worst-affected country in the world, added another 627 fatalities, taking its reported total past 4,000 despite government efforts to stem the pandemic's spread. The global death count from the Covid-19 pandemic has risen over 11,000, with the number of infected people nearing 300,000.

In India, novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 258 on Saturday morning, according to Health Ministry data. Among the 258 are 39 foreign nationals, including 17 from Italy, three from the Philippines, two from the UK, one each belonging to Canada, Indonesia and Singapore. The total figure also includes four deaths reported from Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra.

"The total number of active COVID-19 cases across India stands at 231 so far," the ministry said, adding that 23 others have been cured/discharged/migrated while four have died. (With Agency Inputs)
