Coronavirus Pandemic LIVE Updates: The Indian Council of Medical Research - the nodal body for the fight against the novel coronavirus - has revised its testing strategy for COVID-19. According to ICMR, people with cough, sore throat, runny nose, and fever in the hotspots will be tested for coronavirus. 549 new coronavirus cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total COVID-19 cases in India to 5,734 on Thursday. So far, 473 people have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals. Meanwhile, the Northeast recorded the region's first Covid-19 fatality with a 65-year-old man passing away in Assam. The United States, meanwhile, recorded 1,783 deaths related to the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
